Unscrew the screw plug -arrow-marks "TDC" from the top of the oil pan using a long Allen key with a ball head.
If necessary, tighten the fixing bolt -3242- to 20 Nm in the hole; turn the crankshaft -1 until the bolt is completely centered.
Risk of malfunction due to reversal of an already used drive chain for attachments. To reassemble, mark the direction of the chain with an arrow and use paint for this. Secure the balancer shaft to the rear of the engine using the fuel injection pump pin -3359- and loosen the bolts -arrows- of the balancer shaft sprocket.
To protect against cuts, wrap the tip and cutting edge of a 3.3 mm drill with electrical tape. Press the chain tensioner damper bar -in the direction of the arrow- and lock the chain tensioner with a 3.3 mm diameter drill -pos. 4-. Unscrew bolts -1 and -2- and remove the chain tensioner, the balancer shaft sprocket -3, and the chain.
Installation
The crankshaft -1- is secured in position using a locking screw -3242- "TDC". Secure the balancer shaft -arrow- at the rear of the engine with the injection pump pin-3359-.
Install the chain tensioner with chain and balancer shaft sprocket. The longitudinal holes in the sprocket -3- must be centrally located relative to the threaded holes of the balancer shaft. Tighten bolts -1- and -2- for chain tensioner. -Pos. 4- and -arrow- should not be taken into account. Do not screw in the bolts -arrows- of the chain sprocket completely. The sprocket should turn on the balance shaft, but should not tilt to the sides. Remove the drill from the hole, this releases the chain tensioner. Use a screwdriver to press the chain tensioner damper bar -in the direction of the arrow- and at the same time tighten the bolts -1 - of the sprocket. Remove the diesel locking pin. Injection pump -3359-.
Installation is in reverse order, observing the following. Install the lower drive chain cover.
