Removing air composition sensor -G238-
Instructions. The air composition sensor -G238 is only installed on vehicles with climate control system option "Komfort". The air composition sensor -G238- is a highly sensitive electronic component that can be damaged by direct contact with solutions, fuels and certain chemicals (Contaminants can penetrate through zone -A-).
Therefore, do not install air quality sensor -G238- that has been stored, for example, in tool boxes. Do not store the removed air quality sensor -G238- in places where it comes into contact with solvents, fuel or certain chemical compounds (liquids or vapors). Air composition sensors -G238- come in a wide variety of designs with different operating principles; select the desired design.
Turn off the ignition. Remove rubber seal -B- on left as far as necessary. Remove air intake duct cover on fairing -A- or fairing (various designs).
If necessary, carefully remove the fairing from the windshield frame mounting -C-. Turn the air composition sensor -G238- -A- approximately 90°to the left and remove it from the air intake duct -C-. Disconnect connector -B of air composition sensor -G238-.
Pin assignment in plug -B- 1. Plus (terminal "15"); 2. Minus (terminal "31"); 3. Signal line to onboard power supply control unit -J519-.
Instructions. The signal produced by the air composition sensor -G238- cannot be measured by a workshop. The data from the air quality sensor -G238- is evaluated by the vehicle electrical system -J519- and transmitted via the bus system to the Climatronic control unit -J255-. The measured values of the air composition sensor -G238- are displayed in the measured value block of the operating and display unit, the Climatronic control unit -J255- and in the measured value block of the onboard power supply control unit -J519-.
