Removal the outside temperature sensor "617"

Instructions. The value measured by the outside temperature sensor "G17" is processed by the on-board network "J519" and transmitted via the data bus system to the climate control and display unit, settings, Climatronic control unit "J255" (and the control unit in the instrument cluster "J285"). This figure shows the location of the outside temperature sensor "G17" "A" on an Audi A4 or Audi Q5, the location may differ from this one. On vehicles in which the "G17-A" with bracket "B" is installed on the decorative grille above the amplifier, as a result of this location of "G17" under certain conditions it may happen that an increased temperature value is output (due to heat radiation from the radiator of the cooling system and the condenser, for example, on a 2008 model year vehicle). Therefore, in the model year 2009, the location of the "G17-A" gradually changes, "G17" is installed with a modified bracket "C" a little in front (closer to the radiator grille) and below the amplifier "D". On cars in which the "G17" "A" with bracket "B" is installed on the decorative grille above the amplifier, there may be complaints about the increased measured temperature value. Install the "G17-A" with a modified bracket "C" slightly in front (closer to the radiator grille of the cooling system) and below the amplifier "D". Depending on the design of the wire connection, it may be necessary to additionally extend it. Bracket "C" is attached to the amplifier "D" (for this, if there is none, you need to drill a hole with a diameter of 7 mm under the amplifier "D").

Turn off the ignition. Remove the upper panel cover. Disconnect the connector "E" of the temperature sensor "A" and unfasten the sensor from the bracket ("B" or "D").

Depending on the vehicle's equipment, it may be necessary to remove the bumper to extract the "G17-A" from the bracket "O" installed under the amplifier "D" (if, for example, on vehicles with additional radiators, the "G17" is not accessible from above). After installation, query the fault memory of the control and display unit, the Climatronic control unit "J255" (and the control unit in the instrument cluster "J285") and delete any displayed faults.
