Examination
Place the gear shift lever in neutral position.
Check that the battery is fully charged.
Using additional wires, connect terminal 30 (thick wire) and terminal 50 (thin wire) to the positive terminal of the battery. If the starter drive pinion moves forward, but the starter motor does not rotate, then either the starter motor is faulty or the contacts of the traction relay are burnt.
If the starter gear does not move forward, then the traction relay is faulty and must be replaced.
Removal
Remove the starter.
Unscrew the nut and disconnect the wire going from the starter motor to the lower contact of the traction relay.
Unscrew the screws and remove the solenoid relay from the starter.
Installation
Apply a thin layer of sealant to the surface of the traction relay that mates with the starter F (fig. 14.27).

Hook the traction relay anchor onto the control lever, then screw in the traction relay mounting screws to the starter.
Connect the starter motor wire to the lower contact of the traction relay and secure it.
Check the operation of the traction relay.
Install the starter.
