Replacing external lighting lamps (Audi A6 C5)

Incandescent lamps age over time. Therefore, they must be replaced every two years, even if they are in good condition. This does not apply to halogen lamps, which are installed in headlights. Usually, these lamps last much longer and are subject to replacement only after they burn out. An incandescent lamp with reduced light-emitting power develops a black coating on the glass of the bulb.

Before replacing an exterior light bulb, turn off the associated electrical circuit by setting the switch to the "Off" position. Remember that if the bulb has just been lit, it may be too hot.

Before replacing an external light bulb, check the relevant electrical circuit and fuse. Do not touch the glass bulb of the bulb with bare hands. The fingerprint evaporates and settles on the reflector, resulting in poor lighting. Always replace defective bulbs with the same type. Wipe off any accidental touch marks with a clean, lint-free cloth or alcohol.

When replacing xenon lamps, you must be very careful and cautious, as you can get a strong electric shock from the power source of these lamps.
