Depending on the model, one to three additional belts may be installed, which drive the alternator, power steering pump, water pump and air conditioning compressor.

In ADR engines, the tension of the main drive belt and water pump drive belt is adjusted automatically.

Removal



1. Mark the direction of rotation of the belt.

2. On models with air conditioning, disconnect the front engine mount from the engine and crossmember, remove the belt tensioner at the front of the engine, and remove the belt from the pulleys.

3. To remove the main drive belt, loosen the tensioner and secure it with a suitable pin. Remove the belt from the pulleys.



4. Lock the power steering pump pulley and remove the water pump pulley bolts. Remove the drive belt and the two pulley halves.

Setting and adjusting tension



1. Place the water pump belt on the power steering pump pulley, install the water pump pulley halves, tighten the mounting bolts and place the belt.

2. Place the main drive belt on the pulleys, turn the tensioner clockwise and remove the locking rod.

3. On models with air conditioning, place the belt on the compressor and crankshaft pulleys, install the tensioner and tighten the bolts.

4. Adjust the belt tension by tightening the hexagonal head tensioner bolt to 25 Nm, tighten the adjusting bolt and pivot bolt.

All engines except ADR



Removal



1. Remove the bolts from the air conditioning compressor pulley halves and remove the pulley together with the belt.

2. Loosen the power steering pump mounting bolts and move the pump toward the crankshaft pulley. Remove the belt from the pulleys.

3. Loosen the generator mounting and adjusting bolts, loosen the locking bolt and, turning the adjusting nut, move the generator back. Remove the belt from the pulleys.

Installation and adjustment



1. Place the main belt on the pulleys and adjust its tension. The new belt should deflect approximately 2.0 mm, the old one 5.0 mm.

2. Tighten the lock bolt, pivot bolt and mounting bolts.
