In ADR engines, the tension of the main drive belt and the water pump drive belt are adjusted automatically.
ADR engine
Withdrawal
1. Note the direction of rotation of the belt.
2. On air-conditioned models, disconnect the front engine mount from the engine and cross member, remove the belt tensioner at the front of the engine, and remove the belt from the pulleys.
3. To remove the main drive belt, loosen the tensioner and lock it with a suitable pin. Remove the belt from the pulleys.
4. Stop the power steering pump pulley and remove the water pump pulley bolts. Remove the drive belt and the two halves of the pulley.
Tension setting and adjustment
1. Put the water pump belt on the power steering pump pulley, install the water pump pulley halves, tighten the fixing bolts and put on the belt.
2. Put the main drive belt on the pulleys, turn the tensioner clockwise and remove the locking rod.
3. On air-conditioned models, fit the belt over the compressor and crankshaft pulleys, install the tensioner and tighten the bolts.
4. Adjust the belt tension by tightening the hex head tensioner bolt to 25 N.m., tighten the adjusting and pivot bolts.
All engines except ADR
Withdrawal
1. Unscrew the bolts of the halves of the air conditioning compressor pulley and remove the pulley together with the belt.
2. Loosen the power steering pump mounting bolts and slide the pump towards the crankshaft pulley. Remove the belt from the pulleys.
3. Loosen the fixing and adjusting bolts of the generator, loosen the locking bolt and, turning the adjusting nut, move the generator back. Remove the belt from the pulleys.
Installation and adjustment
1. Slide the main belt over the pulleys and adjust its tension. The new belt should flex about 2.0mm, the old one 5.0mm.
2. Tighten the stop bolt, pivot bolt and mounting bolts.
