Removal



1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.


2. To remove the top belt cover, unscrew the screws.

3. Remove the inserts and disconnect the latches.

4. Remove the cover.



6. Remove the drive belts and water pump pulley.

7. Set piston N1 to TDC.

8. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

9. Remove the lower timing belt cover.

10. Loosen the tensioner bolt and remove the timing belt.

Examination



Inspect the belt for grease or oil contamination, wear or damage. Replace the belt if necessary.

Installation



Installation


1. Loosen the camshaft sprocket bolt and slide the sprocket slightly off the shaft.



2. Place the belt over the sprockets.

2. Place the belt over the sprockets.


3. Place the belt on the tensioner pulley.

3. Place the belt on the tensioner pulley.


4. Thread the belt under the lower pulley.

5. Remove the locking pin from the fuel pump sprocket.

5. Remove the locking pin from the fuel pump sprocket.


6. Turn the tensioner pulley clockwise to align the marks on the pulley and the hub. Tighten the tensioner lock nut.

7. Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt.



8. Install the remaining parts.
