Four engines, three transmission variants, and the choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive combine to provide ten variants of the Audi A4 saloon with a petrol engine. The tables below provide technical data for the seven most popular models. We do not include data for the 1.8-litre turbocharged engine with five-speed manual or continuously variable Multitronic transmission, or for the 2.0-litre engine with five-speed manual. However, the tables do include data for all four variants of the 3.0-litre engine, so the entire range of these interesting engines is represented.
The engines that were not taken into account in the case of the saloon are presented in the additional table with the technical data of the A4 Avant. In this table you can also find the parameters of the fifth version of the 3.0 l engine, which is only available in the Avant model: permanent all-wheel drive with a 6-speed manual transmission. It was taken into account that the parameters of the Avant models differ slightly from those of the saloon. The additional table only contains those data that differ from the parameters of the saloon with the same engine and the same transmission, or are found only in this variant (6-speed gearbox).
It goes without saying that the Avant is considered a five-door model, while the number of doors in the saloon is, naturally, four. Other general differences concern the distance from the ground to the boot opening and the capacity of the boot: in the saloon, the distance from the ground to the boot opening is 694 mm, and in the Avant - 610 mm. The boot capacity of the saloon, which is 3 mm longer than the Avant (4544 mm), is 445 litres, and in the Avant - 442 litres. But with the rear seat folded down and loaded to the roof, the boot capacity is 720 and 1184 litres, respectively.
