A multitude of wire connections should not interfere with work with structural elements. In order to gain access to parts or dismantle them, it is often necessary to disconnect bundles of wires. It is also necessary to disconnect wire harnesses during measurements, testing and replacement of parts and units of electrical equipment and engine adjustment. Therefore, a car has a number of detachable connections, these connections are numbered, in the diagrams they are designated by the letter T. Some of these detachable connections are attached to the body or a specific part using spring clamps. In this case, in order to disconnect the connection, the mating part on the connector must be bent so that the connector can be released from the clamp.

Several dozen multi-contact connections can be found in just five key connector sections. In addition, a large number of individual components are connected to the on-board network via connectors (lamps, sensors, injectors, pumps). In a car you can find 17-, 10-, 8-, 6-, 4- and 3-pin plug connections.

The most important place where the detachable connections are located is the first pillar of the body. On the driver's side (on the left side) there are 12 to 18 connectors, mostly 17- and 10-pin. Additional sections of the most important connectors are located in the electronics unit, which is located in the battery compartment, as well as under the front seats.
