Look for a level road, with as little traffic as possible. The test described below can only be carried out if you have sufficient driving skills and must not interfere with or endanger other road users.
1. At first, you should drive at walking speed. Stop, look for signs of abrasion on the road. If the tracks are the same length, then the brakes work evenly. Do the same with the handbrake.
2. Accelerate to 50 km/h. Release the steering wheel (keep your hands on the wheel), brake gently at first, then abruptly until it comes to a complete stop. The car must keep track. If it pulls, for example, to the left, then one of the right brakes is out of order (the car pulls to the side of the wheel with the stronger brake). When braking hard, the pressure of the anti-lock braking system is felt on the pedals.
3. After this test, on a slightly sloping road, let the car roll from a stop, this will allow you to establish whether the wheels turn freely. After a short drive, feel the rims, all rims should be equally warm. High temperatures can be caused by slipping brakes or defective wheel bearings.
