Warning! Before starting any work on electrical equipment, read the warnings contained in the section "Safety first!" at the beginning of this manual and in chapter 5.
1. Electrical system - 12-volt, with "minus on ground". Power for lighting and other current consumers is supplied from an acid battery, which is recharged from an alternator with a built-in rectifier.
2. This chapter describes the repair and maintenance procedures for various electrical components not directly related to the engine. Information on the alternator, starter, and battery can be found in chapter 5A.
3. Before starting work with electrical equipment, make it a rule to disconnect the negative cable from the battery to prevent a short circuit.
Note: If the radio installed in your car has a secret code, make sure you know the code before disconnecting the battery. If in doubt, contact your dealer for assistance.
