Side antennas
8. On Sedan models and some Avant models, a ribbon-type antenna is integrated into the rear window heating element - the three upper strips form a medium and long wave (AM) antenna and do not heat up. The remaining elements are heated and simultaneously serve as a VHF (FM) antenna. On high-end Avant models, both antennas are installed; the audio system contains a switching unit that selects the most suitable antenna automatically depending on the received frequency. To improve radio reception, an antenna amplifier is installed, which can be secured under the rear shelf trim, behind the side trim panel, behind the fifth door trim panel, or behind the "D" pillar trim, depending on the model. Repair of damaged antenna elements must be entrusted to specialists at a dealership car service or radio repair shop.
