Note: Before working on seat belts on late models equipped with pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioners, read the warnings in paragraph 22.
1. Periodically check the belts for fraying or other damage. If damage is obvious, replace the belt.
2. Wipe dirty belts with a damp cloth using only soapy water.
3. Check fastening bolts for tightness. If the fasteners are removed for any reason, reinstall all fastener bushings and washers in their original positions.
4. Access to the belt height adjuster and inertial coil is possible after removing the rack pad "IN" from the respective side.
5. The anchorages of the rear belts can be checked. if you remove the seat cushion. The retractable rear seat belt reels can be accessed by removing the rear seat back, shelf and luggage compartment side trim.
6. The tightening torques of the threaded connections of the system are given in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter.
7. Never spend "modifications" and do not modify any of the system's fasteners.
