Note: Before working on the seat belts on later models equipped with pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioners, read the warnings contained in paragraph 22.
1. Periodically check the belts for wear or other damage. If damage is obvious, replace the belt.
2. Wipe dirty belts with a damp cloth using only soapy water.
3. Check the tightening of the mounting bolts. If the mountings are removed for any reason, install all bushings and washers of the mountings in their places.
4. Access to the belt height adjuster and the inertia reel is possible after removing the "B" pillar cover on the corresponding side.
5. The rear seat belt fastenings can be checked by removing the seat cushion. Access to the rear seat belt inertia reels is possible after removing the rear seat back, shelf and luggage compartment side trim.
6. The tightening torques of the threaded connections of the system are given in Specifications at the beginning of this chapter.
7. Never make "modifications" or change any system fasteners.
