Note: On new vehicles the rear mufflers are one piece. As spare parts both mufflers are supplied separately and connected by a clamping sleeve.
Removal
Raise the car.
The connecting pipe between the middle and rear muffler should be sawed with a hacksaw at the point of division or cut with a pipe cutter. The division point is indicated by 3 dents around the circumference of the connecting pipe. The division should be made to the right relative to the pipe axis.
Disconnect the rear muffler and remove it.
Clean the separation area.
Installation
Mark the immersion depth into the connecting sleeve on the ends of the pipes. Minimum depth a = 42.5 mm.
Install the clamping sleeve.
Hang the rear muffler on rubber rings.
Correctly position the rear muffler, taking into account the uniform distribution of the load and the tension of the rubber suspension rings.
Tighten the bolts with the clamping sleeve to 40 Nm.
