Trunk lid and rear door pillar — removal and installation (Audi 80 B3)

1. Support the rear trunk lid in the open position.

2. On the trunk lid only, remove the hinges by knocking out the pins, then open the trunk lid all the way.

3. Remove the spring clips from the top and bottom ends of the rack and pull the rack off the hinges (photo).





4. If the strut is removed, it is advisable to release the gas as a safety precaution. To do this, install the strut as shown in Fig. 11.5. Using a hacksaw, make a cut in the strut cylinder to release the oil, but first wrap it in a rag and apply protective fasteners.



5. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
