Checking the level of brake fluid in the brake system
Regularly check the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir. If a sharp drop in the fluid level is detected, check the tightness of the brake system. The brake fluid level must be against the mark «max», but not higher. Clean the ventilation hole regularly.
Brake fluid is corrosive and can damage body paintwork. If brake fluid gets on the painted surfaces of the body, immediately wash it off with a sponge dipped in water.
If water gets into the brake fluid due to the condensation of water vapor, its properties during heating and cooling may change. In addition, it causes corrosion of the working surfaces of the brake pistons and cylinders.
Every two years of operation it is recommended to replace the brake fluid with fresh one.
Brake fluid level warning lamp
The brake fluid level warning lamp comes on when the ignition is switched on and goes out when the engine is running after the handbrake is released.
If the light stays on, or if the light comes on while driving, the brake fluid level may be too low or there is a brake fluid leak Fill the brake fluid reservoir up to the mark «max»
If the warning light comes on again after a few applications of the brake pedal, drive carefully to the nearest workshop.
Warning. If the brake fluid level warning lamp does not light when the ignition is switched on (contact broken or lamp burnt out), the problem should be rectified immediately.
Front wheel brake pads
Every 15,000 km, check the thickness of the brake pads. It is forbidden to change brake pads with bridges. Replace oily pads. Replace also slightly worn pads with linings that have lagged behind the substrate, or with large cracks in the linings.
Rear wheel brake pads
Every 15,000 km of run, check the condition of the friction linings of the brake pads through the holes in the drums.
Note. Brake pads are replaced only with a complete set, i.е. on the brakes on both wheels.
