1. The installation details of the balance shaft and accessory drive chain are shown in the illustrations.

1 - Auxiliary drive chain (Fuel injection pump and oil pump);
2 - Bolt, to be replaced, 30 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 90°;
3 - Sprocket for driving the oil pump, the side with the letters faces the engine;
4 - Spring;
5 - Crankshaft with chain drive sprocket 1;
6 - Star for fuel injection pump drive, letters should be read from the back;
7 - Guide bar;
8 - Guide pin of bar 7, subject to replacement, 5 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 90°;
9 - Chain tensioner, with bar;
10 - Bolt, to be replaced, 5 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 90°.

1 - Bolt, 9 Nm, tighten with thread sealant;
2 - Carrier plate;
3 - Bolt, 23 Nm;
4 - Nut, after loosening shaft 8 it needs to be replaced; 30 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 90°;
5 - Drive sprocket of shaft 8;
6 - Balancer on the AT side;
7, 11- Roller bearing;
8 - Balance shaft;
9 - Bolt, 60 Nm;
10 - Balance beam on the pulley side.




Accessory drive chain



2. Remove the timing chain and both of its upper guides (see Section 29).

3. Lock the fuel injection pump sprocket with the T40245 tool (see illustration).

4. Wrap the 3.3mm drill bit with electrical tape to prevent cutting yourself. Press the tensioner bar in the direction of the arrow (see illustration) and lock the tensioner by inserting the prepared drill (2).

Unscrew the bolt (1) and remove the tensioner bar.

5. Remove the bolts (1-3 in the illustration), remove the auxiliary chain tensioner and the chain itself.

6. Before installation, make sure that the crankshaft is locked at TDC with locking pin No. 3242 (see illustration 29.24), and the fuel injection pump sprocket is blocked by the T40245 device (see illustration 30.3). Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Balance shaft



7. Remove the timing chain (see Section 29).

8. Lock the balance shaft (3 in illustration 29.45) from its rear side, inserting device No. 3359. Then unscrew the bolts (2) and remove the sprocket (1) from the balancer.

9. Unscrew the bolt (see illustration) on the front side of the shaft and remove the balancer from it.

10. Loosen the nut on the back of the shaft (see illustration) and remove the rear balancer.

11. Remove the bolts (see illustration) and remove the balance shaft carrier plate.

Pull the balance shaft out of the cylinder block towards the rear.

12. If necessary, after removing the balance shaft, its bearings can be replaced using a suitable puller and support sleeve. Install the shaft bearings flush with the cylinder block.

13. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Use a new balance shaft.
