Set the front wheels of the car to move straight ahead, with the steering wheel in the middle position.

Use a marker or paint to mark the relative positions of the steering wheel and steering shaft.

Unscrew the central bolt 5 (Fig. 9.1) securing the steering wheel.

Disconnect electrical connectors 2 and 10 from the steering wheel (Fig. 9.1).

Remove the steering wheel from the steering shaft.

Do not change the position of the steering column.

Installation

Install the steering wheel on the splines of the steering shaft so that the marks made before removing the steering wheel match. When installing the steering wheel, the front wheels of the car must be set in the straight-ahead position, and the turn signal switch must be in the neutral position.

Connect electrical connectors 2 and 10 (Fig. 9.1).

Secure the steering wheel with a new bolt 5 (Fig. 9.1) with an internal hexagon head and tighten it to a torque of 60 Nm.

Install an airbag on the steering wheel.

Test drive. When driving the car in a straight line, the steering wheel spokes should be horizontal. If not, remove the steering wheel and move it to the appropriate side when installing. Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles.

Check the operation of the horn and the automatic return of the turn signal switch to the neutral position after turning.

Sports steering wheel and airbag

In principle, the sports steering wheel and airbag are removed and installed in the same way as the four-spoke steering wheel. Below are only the differences concerning the removal of the airbag.
