It is recommended to check the specific gravity of the electrolyte every three months to determine the battery charge.

Air temperature above 25°C
Air temperature below 25°C
The battery is fully charged
1,210 – 1,230
1,270 – 1,290
The battery is charged to 70%
1,170 – 1,190
1,230 – 1,250
The battery is discharged
1,050 – 1,070
1,110 – 1,130

Check the specific gravity of the electrolyte in each section of the battery. If the specific gravity of the electrolyte between sections differs by more than 0.040, the battery must be replaced.

Maintenance free battery

The battery does not require topping up the electrolyte or checking its density. An indicator is used to check the battery condition.

Charging this type of battery takes longer than charging conventional batteries. Charging should be done at a voltage of 13.9-14.9 volts, the charging current should not exceed 25 amperes.

Regular battery and low maintenance battery

The charging current should be 10% of the battery capacity. Continue charging until the specific gravity of the electrolyte increases over 4 hours.

You can also use a battery charger to continuously charge the battery with a charging current of 1.5 amps. This charger can be left on overnight.
