Replacing the brush holder and generator voltage regulator (Audi A6 C4)

Execution order

1. Remove the generator.



2. Loosen the mounting screws (indicated by arrows).



3. Release the clamps.



4. Remove the cover.





5. Remove the mounting screws and remove the brush holder/voltage regulator.





6. Measure the length of the generator brushes at points A and B. Replace the holder together with the brushes if necessary.



7. Inspect the surface of the slip rings (indicated by arrows) and replace them if necessary.

8. The generator is assembled in reverse order.
