Replacement
1. Remove the brake drum.
2. Clean the brake mechanism of asbestos dust (see fig. Elements of the rear drum brake).
3. Inspect the brake pads and measure the thickness of the friction material. To replace the brake pads, mark the installation position of the pads and springs.
4. Remove caps and pressure springs.
5. Remove the pad retainer spring pins.
6. Remove the lower return spring.
7. Remove the brake pads. Put on an elastic band (arrow) on the wheel cylinder to fix the pistons.
8. Mark the installation position of all springs (arrows) and take them off.
9. The brake pads are installed in the reverse order of removal.
