The Audi has a heating system with adjustable air flow. If the heating control is turned to the right, the flap opens the way for air to flow through the heat exchanger. This is a small heating element through which coolant heated by the engine constantly flows. If the heating is turned off, the flow of hot liquid is not blocked, but air flows into the cabin through another channel, bypassing the heat exchanger.
