The front passenger airbag is located in the instrument panel, above the glove compartment flap. Both pillows have a common control system.
In dangerous frontal collisions, the airbag system, acting in conjunction with the seat belts, provides additional protection for the driver and front passenger in the head and chest area. The airbag system will not deploy in side collisions, rear-end collisions, vehicle rollovers, or minor frontal collisions.
The readiness of the airbag system for operation is electronically monitored and confirmed by a control light on the dashboard
Attention! The steering wheel trim panel must not be glued, covered with cloth or otherwise treated. It can only be wiped with a dry or damp cloth. The same rules apply to the instrument panel adjacent to the front passenger airbag.
Airbags
After approximately 10 years from the date of manufacture, the airbag system must be replaced with a new one. The replacement is carried out by the respective workshop.
When to replace the airbag with a new one, see the label affixed on the inside of the sun visor on the passenger side or on the inside of the glove compartment lid.
The replacement intervals for airbags must be adhered to.
Any work related to the airbag system, including the removal and installation of its components in connection with repairs, such as the steering wheel, must only be carried out by specialists from the appropriate workshop.
When the airbag deploys, smoke is emitted. You need to know this so as not to be mistaken for a fire in the cabin.
After deployment, the airbag must be replaced.
