Never use test lamps, voltmeters or ohmmeters when performing checks. Only check the airbag system in the installed state using the diagnostic tester "VAS 5051A". Before working on the airbag system, disconnect the ground wire from the battery. After disconnecting the battery, the necessary subsequent operations can be carried out without delay. Before connecting the airbag system to the power source, make sure that there are no people in the car. Removed Airbags should be stored with the soft side up. Airbag parts must not be opened or repaired. As a rule, only new parts should be used. When replacing Airbag modules, it is imperative to follow the following procedure:
  • 1. Remove the old module and place it with the upholstery side facing up.
  • 2. Take the new module from the shipping container and place it with the upholstery side facing up.
  • 3. Place the old module immediately into the transport container.
  • 4. Install the new Airbag module.

There is no specified replacement interval for the airbag modules. Include replacement of the airbags in the service plan. Observe the rules for disposal of pyrotechnic parts. Do not use lubricants, cleaners or similar agents on the Airbag modules.
