Work must be carried out in a well-ventilated area, preferably with open windows and doors to create a draft.
Do not use open flames, electric welding and tools that may generate sparks. Make sure there is a charged fire extinguisher in the immediate vicinity of the work area.
Use goggles to protect your eyes from getting fuel in them. If fuel comes into contact with skin, wash the area with plenty of water.
The container in which the fuel is located contains its vapors and is potentially explosive.
When working with the power system, be clean, as dirt that has entered the channels of the system can block them, which will disrupt the normal operation of the engine.
The use of an electronic engine management system provides the following advantages:
- due to the optimal fuel supply to the engine in all operating modes, fuel consumption is reduced while maintaining the dynamic characteristics of the car;
- more complete combustion of fuel and the use of a catalytic converter can reduce the emission of harmful substances with exhaust gases;
- since the electronic engine management system determines and stores faults in the memory, their search and detection is significantly accelerated;
- the engine management system in all operating modes sets the optimal ignition timing, the moment and the amount of fuel supplied to the engine. The engine management system interacts with other vehicle systems, in particular with the automatic transmission control system or with the anti-theft system.
Elements of the engine management system are very reliable and practically do not require maintenance. Maintenance only requires replacing the air filter and spark plugs. To check, adjust and repair the engine control system, it is necessary to use complex expensive equipment, so this work must be performed at a specialized service station.
During the operation of the car, it is not necessary to adjust the idle speed and the CO content in the exhaust gases.
When servicing and repairing the ignition system of a car with the ignition on, care must be taken, as you can get an electric shock from the high-voltage part of the ignition system. People with cardiac stimulants are not recommended to check and repair the engine control system. Switch off the ignition before disconnecting or connecting any element of the ignition system or tester leads.
The fuel system is constantly pressurized even after the engine has been switched off, so any work on the fuel system must be relieved of pressure.
To prevent the possibility of an accidental short circuit in the electrical circuit and damage to the electronic components of the engine control system, always remove the wire «masses» with battery.
Before performing any work on the engine management system, recall the malfunctions recorded in it. Also check the tightness of the power supply and air supply systems to the engine.
Normal operation of the engine management system possible only if the voltage in the vehicle's on-board network is not lower than 11.5 V.
If, after working on the control system, the engine starts and stops after a short time, it may be switched off by the anti-theft system. In this case, recall the faults recorded in the memory and, if necessary, adjust the engine management system.
