Instructions. Used Airbag can be used after 3 activations of the side/upper Airbag and/or seat belt pretensioner. After the third activation, the error message "Control unit malfunction" appears.

Used Airbags must be replaced: when the driver/front passenger Airbag is deployed, when the housing is damaged, when there is deformation in the tunnel within a radius of 200 mm around the control unit, after three deployments of the Airbag. Always replace: all deployed airbag modules.

Additionally, if the front passenger Airbag is triggered, replace the front panel. If the front passenger module supports are deformed (it is forbidden to straighten it yourself) the central tube of the front instrument panel should be replaced. Lateral acceleration sensor when the trough-shaped chamber under the floor/B-pillar is deformed in the sensor area.

Additionally, if the driver's Airbag is triggered, replace the return ring with the contact ring, the lateral acceleration sensor if the trough-shaped chamber under the floor/B-pillar is deformed in the sensor area, and the steering column if the steering column is damaged.

Additionally, if the side Airbag is triggered, replace: the lateral acceleration sensor on the triggered side, the lateral acceleration sensor that did not trigger when the trough-shaped chamber under the floor/B-pillar is deformed in the sensor area, the lower B-column trim on the triggered sensor side.

Additionally, if the upper airbags for head protection are deployed, replace: the lateral acceleration sensor on the deployment side, the trim of the A, B, C, D pillars, the body ceiling and the support shield of the C pillar, the lateral acceleration sensor that did not deploy due to deformation of the trough-shaped chamber under the floor/B pillar in the area of the sensor.

Additionally, all automatic seat belts with triggered tensioners are replaced. If there is reason to believe that a seat belt tensioner has triggered, connect a suitable diagnostic tester, such as the VAS 5051B Diagnostic Tester.

Airbags Check whether a collision message has been entered in the control unit. Airbags Check for a fault message in the seat belt tensioner "Resistance too great": If all conditions are met, the belt tensioner must be replaced. "Prerequisite: The airbag control unit has not been changed.".

Instructions. The message "Resistance too high" may also appear if the wires are broken. Then, if these parts are in good condition, there will be no message about the collision. Various additional points: check the seat belts.

When removing parts of the seat belt system in the event of an accident, the mounting bolts of the seat belt system should be replaced. If necessary (visual inspection) additionally replace: all damaged components. After replacing airbag modules or control unit, stick on labels (only tear-off parts) on the registration card.

Accident without airbag deployment

If the airbag warning light "K75" does not indicate a malfunction, then there is no need to replace the airbag components. Perform a separate check of the seat belts. Check the steering column for damage. After replacing the airbag modules or control unit, stick on the labels (only tear-off parts) on the registration card.
