When disassembling and assembling the steering shaft, connect the upper and lower shafts correctly, as shown in the photo. The lower shaft is pushed all the way onto the upper one.
Install the steering shaft in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
- when installing the steering shaft pipe, tighten the self-locking bolt until the head breaks, then tighten the cylindrical head bolt;
- before installing the steering shaft into the pipe, push the rubber support ring onto the shaft until it stops, then insert the shaft into the pipe until it stops;
- tighten the drive unit housing mounting screws after pressing it until it stops on the steering shaft pipe;
- replace the mounting spring;
- it is essential to center the turn signal and headlight switch to prevent damage to the drive cam by the tongue of the contact ring when installing the steering wheel;
- install the steering wheel after first setting the front wheels to the straight-ahead position;
- replace all self-locking nuts with new ones;
- observe the tightening torques of threaded connections.
