Instruction. The exhaust gas recirculation system is controlled by the engine control unit via the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18- to the mechanical exhaust gas recirculation valve. Exhaust gas recirculation is switched off at idle speed after approx. 2 minutes. To further improve the exhaust gas composition, the exhaust gas recirculation system is equipped with a cooler through which the coolant flows. The exhaust gas recirculation flow to the combustion chamber passes through this radiator. In this way, the exhaust gas temperature can be reduced, which in turn lowers the temperature in the combustion chamber and leads to an improvement in the exhaust gas composition.
