Remove the hood. If present, loosen the bracket. Remove the engine cover. Remove the sound insulation underneath. Remove the air duct hose from the intake manifold fitting. Remove the vacuum hose from the EGR valve. Connect a hand vacuum pump to the EGR valve.

Create a vacuum with a hand vacuum pump. The diaphragm rod should move "in the direction of the arrow". Remove the hand vacuum pump hose from the EGR valve. The diaphragm rod should move back to its original position.

Installation in reverse order. Tightening torque: Engine compartment cover to bracket: 5.5 Nm.
