Production of Audi Q7 cars (4LB body) began in 2005 and continues at the time of publication of this Manual. The design was updated in 2009. Five-seat models are now standard. It is possible to order 2 rear seats separated by a center console (4-seater option), as well as 2 third row seats (7- or 6-seater option).

The engine is installed longitudinally in the engine compartment. Models with petrol and diesel engines of various sizes and power are available. This Guide covers the most popular diesel models: 3.0 and 4.2 liters of all modifications.

All wheels are driven. All-wheel drive is achieved via a transfer case with a planetary limited-slip center differential (with dynamic asymmetric torque distribution, compatible with ESP functions). Mechanically (without EDS intervention) up to 85% of the torque can be transmitted to the rear axle, and up to 65% to the front axle. The gearbox, front final drive, and transfer case are separate units (modular design). To transmit torque to the wheels, a 6- or 8-speed automatic transmission (AT) with a manual gear shift mode is used. Some models may be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, which is not covered in this manual.

The front suspension is independent, with double wishbones, an anti-roll bar and 2-tube shock absorbers with steel springs. Rear suspension - independent, double wishbones (upper control arms - separate), with anti-roll bar and shock absorber struts with springs. In some configurations, pneumatic struts with adjustable stiffness can be installed instead of shock absorber struts of the front and rear suspension.

The brakes are equipped with a vacuum booster. All brakes are disc brakes. ESP with various assistance functions is standard.

The steering is rack and pinion. Power steering is standard, with a gain dependent on vehicle speed. Steering column - with adjustable reach and tilt angle.

All models are equipped with driver and front passenger front airbags, front side airbags and inflatable curtains. Additionally, it is possible to install rear side airbags. All seat belts are three-anchor, with emergency tensioners that eliminate belt slack in the event of a collision, and tension limiters.
