General information and instructions (from calendar week 45/08)
From calendar week 45/08, an improved version of the used multimedia interface is installed. Functions used, telephone, mobile phone, jack for connecting external audio sources, CD and DVD drive, navigation system. (with a hard drive) the voice dialogue system and the voice control system are combined in a single unit, using the J794 communications electronics. Externally, the R-radio, R41 CD changer/R78 TV tuner, and the J525 digital audio system are connected via the MOST bus. The basic audio systems are controlled directly from the R-radio. The R147 digital audio system (DAB) is optionally integrated into the R-radio.

Components of the communications electronics control unit 1 "J794"
Used communications electronics 1 "J794" is a 3rd generation MMI. The used communications electronics kit 1 "J794" includes the following control units, which are part of the 2nd generation:
1. Used front panel control, indication and information output "J523".
2. CD player "R89".
3. Used navigation system with CD drive "J401".
4. R115 Phone Card Reader/SD Memory Card Reader.
5. Used voice command entry system "J507".

The "R" radio package includes the following control units, which are part of the 2nd generation.

Notes on the MOST bus
Along with CAN-BUS, the MOST-BUS optical data bus is used. A fiber optic cable is used as the connecting cable. For protection, the light guides are laid in corrugated tubes. If possible, replace the light guides as a set. Ensure that the end surfaces of the plug connections are not contaminated. When disconnecting connectors, put protective caps on them "VAS 6223/9".
When laying the fiber optic cables, maintain a minimum bending radius of 25 mm. Do not compress or bend the fiber optic cable.
