The brake light switch is located in the pedal support. When the brake pedal is pressed, the brake light comes on via the switch. In addition, the brake light switch serves as a sensor for the ABS/EDS control unit. Therefore, the correct operation and adjustment of the brake light switch is of particular importance.
Removal
Caution: The brake light switch can only be installed once. Once removed, it must be replaced.
1. Remove the pocket from the driver's side, refer to Section Removal and installation the pocket on the driver's side.
2. Press the plug (2) in the direction of the arrow and disconnect the connection.

3. Turn the brake light switch 45° to the left to release it. Remove the brake light switch.

Installation
1. Remove the push rod completely from the new brake light switch (arrow on the accompanying illustration).

Caution: Do not press the brake pedal during installation.
2. Insert the switch with its locking strips (1) and (2) into the grooves of the pedal support and fix it by turning it to the right by 45°. The position of the switch must be secure. When installing the switch, the pusher itself takes the correct position.
3. Fix the brake light switch plug, check the operation of the switch.
4. Reinstall the driver side pocket, refer to Section Removal and installation the pocket on the driver's side.
