The brake light switch is located on the pedal support. When the pedal is pressed, the switch turns on the brake light. In addition, the brake light switch serves as a sensor for the ABS/EDS control unit, informing it that braking has occurred. Therefore, its reliable operation and adjustment are of great importance.
Removal
1. Remove the cover in the driver's footwell area, referring to the subsection Removal and installation the pocket on the driver's side.
2. Disconnect the brake light switch connector.

3. Turn the brake light switch "1" 90° to the left and remove.
Adjustment
Warning: To adjust the switch, it must first be removed.
1. Remove the switch stem completely.
2. Press the brake pedal down with your hand as far as possible, insert the switch into the pedal support and secure it by turning it 90° to the right.
3. Release the pedal. The push rod is installed automatically.
4. Connect the brake light switch connector.
5. Check the brake light operation with the help of an assistant. The brake light should light up even with a slight pressure on the pedal.
6. Install the cover in the driver's footwell area.
7. Removing and installing the parking brake lever.
