Warning: Rigid metal pipelines must be laid in a service station, as this requires appropriate qualifications.
Warning: Hoses are used as flexible connections between rigid movable elements of the brake system, such as calipers, and the car body. If there is visible damage, the hoses must be replaced.
Warning: If the brake fluid reservoir is completely empty (e.g. due to leaks in the system or due to venting when a user forgot to add fluid to an empty tank) air enters the ABS pump. In this case, for safety reasons, the air from the system should be removed in a service station using a special device. In the presence of EDS, it is additionally necessary to carry out adjustment using a tester. When installing a new brake hose, it is also necessary to remove air from the system using a special device.
Warning: Do not allow brake hoses to come into contact with oil or fuel, and do not coat brake hoses with paint or underbody corrosion protection.
Withdrawal
Warning: Observe the rules for handling the brake fluid given in subsection Brake fluid.
1. Raise and place the car on stands.
2. Remove the caliper, while referring to subsection Removal and installation of a brake disk/caliper.
3. Disconnect the brake hose from the guide and coupling holder.
4. Disconnect the brake hose from the pipeline and from the caliper. Do not twist the brake hose while doing this. If it is necessary to replace the brake hose at the caliper, the caliper must first be removed.
Warning: Wipe up spilled brake fluid with a rag. Close the pipe connection in the direction of the brake cylinder with a suitable plug.
Installation
1. Install only brake hoses approved by the manufacturer. Install the new hose so that it sags without twisting and secure it with a torque of 15 Nm to the brake pipe.
Warning: Fix the hose to the caliper with new o-rings, connecting bolt (hollow bolt) fasten to the caliper with a torque of 35 Nm.
2. After installation with the wheels unloaded, with the vehicle raised, turn the steering wheel left and right and check that the hose follows all wheel movements without touching adjacent structures.
3. Install the caliper, while referring to the subsection Removal and installation of a brake disk/caliper.
4. Lower the car onto its wheels.
5. With the vehicle on the ground, check that the hose follows all wheel movements without touching adjacent structures.
Warning: Do a Reliability Check:
- Are the brake hoses securely tightened?
- Is the brake hose secured in the holder?
- Are the bleed fittings tight?
- Is there enough brake fluid in the reservoir?
- With the engine running, check the system for leaks. To do this, press the brake pedal with a force of 200–300 N (20–30 kg) within 10 s. The pedal must not move. Check all connections for tightness.
6. Remove air from the system in a service station.
7. Check the operation of the braking system on a road with light traffic.
