Checking the windshield (headlight) washers and the fifth door glass (12 months) (Audi A4 B5)

1. Make sure that all the washer nozzles are clean and capable of passing a sufficient amount of washer fluid. The jet from the nozzles should hit slightly above the center of the windshield or headlight. If two double windshield washer nozzles are installed, the jets of one nozzle should hit slightly above the center line of the glass, the jets of the other - slightly higher. If necessary, adjust the direction of the jets with a tailor's pin.

2. Check the condition of the brushes. The rubber blades should not have cracks or be heavily worn. Check the ability of the brushes to wipe the glass. If the brushes leave dirty spots on the glass, this may be due to defective clamps designed to bend the brush depending on the curvature of the glass. Worn brushes are subject to replacement. The brushes should not extend beyond the surface being wiped, but should stop in the correct position after completing the working stroke. If this is not the case, the installation of the leashes must be adjusted (see chapter 12).
