How motor oil works
Friction reduction
Without oil, the friction surfaces inside your engine will abrade each other, overheat and melt, quickly disabling the engine. Engine oil creates a film that separates these moving parts, preventing wear and overheating.
Heat sink
The temperature inside the engine can reach 1000 degrees Celsius. Engine oil circulating in the engine lubrication system. transfers heat from the heating points to the pan.
Cleaning the insides of the engine
Good quality engine oils clean the inside of the engine by collecting and dissolving combustion products, keeping them until they are trapped by the oil filter or removed from the engine during an oil change.
Disposal of Used Engine Oil
When storing and disposing of engine oil, always:
- Avoid contact of used oil with skin surfaces - frequent or prolonged contact is harmful to health.
- Drain used oil only into specially designated containers. Never pour it into sewers or onto the ground.
