2. Clean the engine with an appropriate cleaning agent and wash with a steam generator.
3. Perform a test drive and determine where the oil leak is located.
The most likely places for oil leaks are:
- crankshaft, camshaft and intermediate shaft seals (4-cylinder engines). These areas are covered by a toothed belt protective cover
- cylinder head cover gasket
- cylinder head gasket
- distributor clamp gasket (4- and 5-cylinder engines).
- engine oil pressure sensors
- oil filter gasket
- filter mounting gasket
- oil pan cover gasket
- crankshaft oil seal at the rear end (engine-gearbox joint
- oil radiator (diesel engines)
- sealing ring of the manual fuel pump lever on the high-pressure fuel pump (tD engines only).
