Brake system tubes and hoses — removal and installation (Audi 80 B3)

1. Before removing the brake pipe or hose, unscrew the filler cap of the reservoir, cover the neck with a piece of polyethylene to reduce fluid loss. Alternatively, you can install a clamp on the rear line pipe if you are removing the rear brake pipe.

2. To remove the hard line, unscrew the connecting nuts at each end, remove the brackets (where are they used) and remove the line (photo). Installation is carried out in reverse order.



3. To remove the flexible tube, unscrew the union nut that secures the rigid tube to the end of the flexible hose (photo). Remove the clamp, take the hose out of the hanger. Unscrew the remaining end. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.





4. After installing the rigid or flexible tube, bleed the hydraulic system as described in Chapter 17.
