Tailgate and its parts (Audi Q7-4L-D)

1. The installation details of the tailgate are shown in the illustration.

The tailgate pillar is removed in the same way as the hood pillar (see Section 4). If the tailgate is not being removed for replacement, it should be removed by separating the two parts of its hinges (see paragraph 2), because in this case no further adjustment will be required.

2. To separate the hinges, pull out all the electrical wiring from the tailgate and the body, remove the nut (1 in the illustration) and remove the tailgate together with the hinge part.

When installing, tighten the nut to 24 Nm.

3. To remove the tailgate, remove its interior trim (see Part B), disconnect the electrical wiring and washer fluid hoses. Separate the door pillars from the door, ask an assistant to hold the door open and unscrew the bolts securing the tailgate to the hinges. After installation, the position of the tailgate should be adjusted (see subsection below).

1, 2 - Bolt, 21 Nm: tighten bolt 1 first, then bolt 2;
3 - Loop;
4 - Spacer, installed on the axle and pressed into the loop;
5 - Nut, 21 Nm.

1 - Electrical wiring connector;
2 - Left drive motor;
3 - Bracket;
4 - Bolt with washer, 21 Nm;
5, 7 - Loop;
6 - Self-tapping bolt, 12 Nm;
8 - Bolt with washer, 8 Nm.




Removal of the motors is possible after removing the ceiling trim and pulling back the D-pillar trim in the motor area.

5. The installation details of the luggage compartment lock are shown in the illustration.

To remove the lock, remove the trunk lid trim, disconnect the electrical wiring connector, unhook the cable (8), loosen the nuts (3) and pull out the lock.

6. The dimensions maintained during adjustment are specified in the Specifications. Before adjusting the new tailgate, secure the pillars to it. Also, before adjusting, screw in the adjustment buffers completely (6 in illustration 5.1).

7. To adjust the tailgate on the striker of its lock, remove the luggage compartment threshold trim and loosen the nuts (1 in the illustration), so that the striker (2) can be moved.

Note: When adjusting, the lock actuator must be in the "locked" position.

Move the striker all the way up/forward, tighten its nuts by hand, close the tailgate until it is fully locked and align it along the contour. Then carefully open the tailgate and tighten the striker nuts to 21 Nm.

8. When the tailgate is adjusted correctly (1 in the illustration) in its closed position, the adjusting buffer (3) should be slightly compressed against the locking buffer (2).
