Disconnecting and connecting the battery
Caution! Risk of accident. When working on pyrotechnic units (eg Airbag, seat belt tensioner) The battery must be disconnected in a special way, described below, with the ignition on.
Turn off ignition. Remove boot floor "3". If present, remove mud tray. If present, remove Bassbox "2". Bend back floor covering "1" over cover.

Unlock the "arrow" latches and open cover "1".

Open cover "1" above the negative terminal of the battery. Loosen the nut a few turns and remove the pole tip "arrow" of the ground wire from the battery terminal.

Connection
Disconnect the electrical plug connection "2" used for checking the battery "J367" "pos. 3". When connecting manually, place the ground wire pole tip on the negative pole of the battery and tighten the nut "1".

Connect the electrical plug connection to the battery monitoring control unit "J367". If the wires to the battery terminals are reconnected, the following operations must be performed: Activate the automatic up/down mode of the electric window. Interrogate the event memory of all control units and delete the "Low voltage" fault message.
Note: After reconnecting the power supply, the ESP warning light may not go out until after driving for several meters.
If available, install Bassbox.
Removing the ground wire from a used battery monitoring system "J367"
