Table of contents: Removal ↓ Installation ↓
In the instrument cluster on models before 1999, only the bulbs can be replaced. If one of the indicators fails or if there is any other defect, the instrument cluster must be replaced as a whole. On instrument clusters since 1999, if the LEDs fail, the instrument cluster must be replaced as a whole.

If the message "dEF" appears on the trip meter indicator, the error is in the permanent memory, in which case it is necessary to replace the instrument cluster.

The instrument cluster is available in three different versions: "Lowline", "Midline" and "Highline".

The instrument cluster of the "Lowline" version displays the Mini-Check-System information, while the "Midline" and "Highline" versions display more comprehensive information: Auto-Check-System, Service-Longlife, outside temperature, trip computer, selector lever position and navigation system notifications.

The instrument cluster is controlled by a microprocessor with a self-diagnostic system.

Removal

When removing the instrument cluster, it is not necessary to remove the steering wheel.

Lower the steering wheel all the way down.

Remove the ground cable from the battery.

Attention
  • When disconnecting the wires from the battery terminals, the memory units of the control units erase the data on the recorded faults, so before disconnecting the wires, you must contact a workshop to recall the faults recorded in the memory. After connecting the wires to the battery terminals, it is necessary to activate and reprogram the electric windows, as well as the position of the rear-view mirrors and seats.
  • If the car has a radio receiver with a code, then before disconnecting the wires from the terminals from the battery, check that there is a code to reactivate the receiver. Otherwise, the radio receiver can only be put into operation at a specialized station.
