Withdrawal
1. Remove the V-ribbed belt cover. To do this, unscrew the 2 bolts SW 10 and unfasten the casing from the screen of the ignition coils.
2. Engine with a displacement of 2.8 liters and 30 valves (193 HP): Unscrew the viscous fan. To do this, insert a screwdriver into one of the four holes of the V-ribbed belt pulley as a stopper and rest it on the fan bracket with a viscous coupling. Turn the wrench to the right (left hand thread). Remove the fan.
3. Mark the arrow on the V-ribbed belt with a felt-tip pen or marker in the direction of its movement. The crankshaft of the engine rotates when viewed from the front, to the right, that is, in a clockwise direction.
4. Loosen the V-belt. To do this, turn the tensioner, as shown in the figure, in the direction of the arrow with a SW 15 ring spanner and lock it with a suitable pin (∅ 6 mm), eg AUDI-3204. First, remove the plastic cap from the tension roller with a screwdriver.
Warning: For a 193 hp engine. insert a 17 mm hex ring wrench under the tension roller, turn the tension roller bracket to the right and lock.
5. Remove poly V-belt.
Installation
1. Place the V-ribbed belt first on the drive and guide rollers and only then on the tension roller.
Warning: If a used belt is reinstalled, pay attention to the direction of its movement. Installing the belt in the opposite direction increases wear and can cause it to break. Therefore, the V-ribbed belt must always be installed in such a way that the marked arrow points in the direction of rotation of the motor shaft (viewed from the front, clockwise).
2. Install the V-ribbed belt on the belt pulleys. Lightly press the tensioner in the direction of the arrow. Pull out the insert pin. After that, slowly turn the tensioner against the direction of the arrow, paying attention to the correct position of the V-ribbed belt on the belt pulleys.
3. 193 hp engine: Tighten the viscous fan to the left with a torque of 40 Nm.
4. Install the V-ribbed belt cover. Install the plastic cap on the tension roller.
