Front suspension shock absorbers (Audi A6 C4)

Removal

1. Mark the installation position of the upper shock absorber mount on the upper strut mount plate.



2. Loosen and remove the nut on the shock absorber piston rod.



3. Unscrew the three mounting nuts and remove the upper shock absorber support.

4. Turn the steering wheel so that the shock absorber piston rod is centered in the hole in the upper strut mount.





5. Remove the shock absorber mounting sleeve and rubber stop.







6. Unscrew the mounting cap and remove it.



7. Remove the shock absorber.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.



1. Tighten the fastening cap to the required tightening torque.





2. Install the top support and tighten the mounting nut.



3. Install washers and new mounting nuts.



4. Align the marks made earlier and tighten the mounting nuts.



5. Install the casing in place with the arrow facing outward.
