Audi put an end to this: almost all connectors are additionally fixed mechanically with the help of clamps. (In order to disconnect the connector, you need to overcome the latch.)
Here are the most common connector latches:
- The connectors of the injection system are fixed with a wire clamp, which must be pressed down.
- Most multi-pin connectors have locking slots on the sides that must be pressed in order to remove the connector.
- For example, the combined instrument panel has multi-pin connectors that are secured with an inserted clamp.
Central switching node
The wires in the Audi A4 are bundled. All of them are connected to the central switching node, a black box on the left under the dashboard. There are also six relays and screw connections for the vehicle's main electrical cable.
