Clutch design and specifications (Audi 80 B2)

The clutch is dry, single-disc, with a central pressure spring. The clutch release drive is mechanical, cable, and gap-free. The driven clutch disc has a torsional vibration damper. The clutch release bearing is ball-type, self-centering.

Clutch brand: Sachs.

Force of the pressure spring, kg s:

cars with engine FZ: 340;
cars with engine YP: 400;
cars with YZ engine: 420.

Maximum permissible non-flatness of the pressure plate surface, mm: 0.3.

Outside diameter of driven disk, mm:

cars with FZ, YP, EP engines before June 1983, DT: 190;
cars with EP engines since June 1983, YZ: 200;
cars with engines DS, DZ: 210.

Maximum permissible end runout of the driven disk when measured at a distance of 2.5 mm from the outer diameter, mm: 0.4.

When installing the clutch, position the driven disk with the protruding part of the hub towards the pressure plate.

Distance "A" (see photo) between the clutch release fork lever and the cable sheath tip stopper when the clutch pedal is released, mm: 169.
