Caution: Never leave children unattended in a vehicle with keys in the vehicle, especially when the key is in the ignition. Children have a habit of imitating adults and may lock doors from the inside, turn on the ignition or start the engine. This could result in injury to children when using, for example, electric windows, or an accident if the vehicle starts to move. If people or pets are left in the car, they may lock the car from the inside, so always take the key with you to unlock the car from the outside.
The car comes with two key fobs (see illustration 1.1), they are a folding metal key, an immobilizer chip, a remote control (remote control) with a single lock and a system chip located in one plastic case "Advanced Key" (if available).

Keep your key fob clean. To avoid damage to the electronic components located in the key, do not expose it to strong mechanical loads (deformations, impacts), high temperatures and humidity.
The key set also includes a pendant with the key code number required to order duplicate keys, as well as a regular metal key with an immobilizer chip. The emergency key is intended for temporary use when it is not possible to use the key fob.
Metal keys fit all car locks. To remove the metal key from the key fob, press the button (5 in illustration 1.1). To remove the mechanical key, also press the indicated button and insert the key into the key fob until it locks.
The remote control is designed to control a single lock and its functions (see the description of the single lock in the corresponding subsection below), while outside the car. The purpose of the remote control buttons is shown in Figure 1.1. If the vehicle is within the range of the remote control, the indicator (2) lights up once and goes out when one of the buttons is pressed. If the vehicle is out of range of the remote control, the indicator will light briefly once and then indicate that the vehicle is locked (frequent blinking) or not (low frequency blinking), but this indication will only be reliable on the remote control from which the car was last locked. If the indicator does not respond to pressing the remote control buttons, it indicates that the battery charge is low.
The proper functioning of the remote control and its range of action may be negatively affected by local sources of radio emission. If you are unable to unlock/lock the main lock with the remote control due to interference on the operating frequency of the remote control or due to a discharged battery, use a metal key by inserting it into the lock in the driver's door. If the car cannot be unlocked using the remote control, or the range of the remote control has decreased, its battery should be replaced. A low battery charge can be judged by the lack of response of the indicator on the remote control, as well as by the lighting of the corresponding indicator on the instrument cluster display (see Section 7), accompanied by the message "Replace the key battery".
When the ignition is turned off/the car is locked, the parameters of some systems are automatically remembered for this key fob (climate control, central locking, contour lighting, windows, heated steering wheel, parking assistance system, position of the driver's seat, steering column and outside mirrors), which will be restored the next time the vehicle is unlocked/ignition is turned on with this key.
Single lock
The single lock becomes ready to operate after all doors and the luggage compartment are closed. When the driver's door is open, the vehicle cannot be locked using the key fob button. All doors and the trunk can be locked and unlocked simultaneously, even from outside the vehicle (with a remote control or key), and from the inside (using a special button). Through the menu "Car → Systeme → Zentralverrieg elung" the MMI display allows you to define which doors, including the tailgate, will unlock along with the driver's door with the first press of the unlock button on the remote control. This menu also allows you to enable/disable the automatic locking function (see below). Furthermore, the single locking system controls the convenience opening/closing function for the windows and sunroof: holding down the unlock button lowers the windows and raises the sunroof/slides the sunroof blind, while holding down the lock button raises the windows and closes the sunroof and its blind. Note: On models with a standard anti-theft alarm, the comfort opening function only works after the vehicle is unlocked.
Successful locking/unlocking of the vehicle is confirmed by a single/double short flash of all direction indicators.
If no door or trunk is opened within 60 seconds of unlocking the vehicle, the vehicle will automatically lock. This prevents unauthorized access by unauthorized persons in the event of accidental unlocking of the vehicle.
The single lock has an automatic locking function at speeds of more than 15 km/h. After automatic locking, the vehicle is unlocked when the key is removed from the ignition lock, either by pressing the unlock button or by pulling the internal door release handle once. The automatic locking function can be turned on/off via the menu "Car → Systeme → Zentralverriegelung" mMI display. Special buttons located in the driver's door are used to lock/unlock the car from the inside (3 in illustration 6.1). The locking key has a built-in indicator. These keys work both when the ignition is on and when it is off. A vehicle locked from the inside is automatically unlocked when the airbags are deployed.
A car locked from the outside cannot be unlocked from the inside by default. If the car is locked from the inside with the remote control, it can only be unlocked with the remote control. To lock the car from the outside but still be able to unlock it from the inside, turn the metal key in the driver's door lock twice within 2 seconds to the lock position, then close the door. On models with the system "Advanced Key" to do this, press the lock button on the door handle twice.
To unlock/lock the car with a metal key, insert the key into the lock and turn it in the desired direction (see illustration 1.2): Only the driver's door is unlocked. After this, you must open the driver's door and turn on the ignition within 15 seconds, otherwise the anti-theft alarm will be triggered (if available, see Section 2). When you lock the car with a metal key, all locks are locked.

If the master lock is faulty, each passenger door should be locked separately before locking the driver's door. To lock the passenger door, open it and remove the plug from its end (see illustration 1.3), turn the key in the opened lock, install the plug and close the door. Passenger doors locked in this way can only be opened from the inside by entering the vehicle through the driver's door and pulling the inside release handle twice. The emergency release of the luggage compartment is described in the subsection below.

To unlock and release the locked trunk, press the button on the remote control (3 in illustration 1.1) or on the corresponding button in the driver's door trim (top button 34 in illustration 6.1). When the lock is released, the tailgate rises slightly. If the luggage compartment is already unlocked with the key (1 in illustration 1.1) remote control. To unlock, press the opening handle directly on the tailgate (see illustration 1.4).
1.4. Tailgate handle.
If the tailgate is equipped with an automatic drive, the tailgate will automatically rise when the lock is released. To interrupt the process of closing the tailgate, press the tailgate handle again or the button on the remote control (3 in illustration 1.1), or on the button (top button 34 in illustration 6.1) in the driver's door. The automatic tailgate can be closed by pressing a button on its interior trim (see illustration 1.5).

Be careful that the tailgate does not cause injury or other damage when it opens. Do not interfere with the automatic closing with your hands, although the mechanism is equipped with an anti-pinch system. To interrupt the tailgate closing process, press the indicated button again or press the tailgate handle.
To close the tailgate, gently lower it into the lock using the groove in the interior trim - it will then close automatically.
If the system key is forgotten in the luggage compartment "Advanced Key", after closing, the tailgate will open again.
If the electric drive for unlocking the rear door lock is faulty, then you can unlock it from the inside in the following way. Fold the rear seat backs forward, climb into the luggage compartment, pry up the plug with a screwdriver and through the resulting hole, press the lever in the direction of the arrow (see illustration 1.6).

To prevent children in the back seat from opening the rear doors from the inside, use child safety locks: once the child safety lock is locked, the corresponding door can only be unlocked from the outside.

To use a mechanical lock, open the door, turn the metal key in the corresponding lock (see illustration 1.7) and close the door.

electric child locks are unlocked/locked with a pair of rear keys (with child-shaped pictograms and locking indicators) in the driver's block of power window control switches (5 in illustration 6.1). These keys, together with the interior release handle for the corresponding door, lock the window lift switch in the corresponding door, the rear sunroof control keys and the rear climate control panel (when both deputies are blocked).
System "Advanced Key"
System "Advanced Key" allows you to unlock/lock the doors and/or trunk, as well as start/stop the engine, without pressing the key fob buttons or removing it from your pocket or case. The key fob only needs to be recognized within 1.5 meters of the corresponding lock. The car can be unlocked from any door. When you unlock any passenger door, the driver's door is also automatically unlocked. Whether all doors are unlocked or only the front doors is determined by the settings in the MMI display menu.
To unlock the corresponding door, including the tailgate, simply pull its handle. To lock the vehicle, press the button on any door handle with the selector lever in the "P" position. Holding the button down closes the windows and sunroof. Reopening the door through the system "Advanced Key" possible only after some time after it has been locked. During this time, you can check the locking by pulling the handle.
To save energy, the system's key detection sensors "Advanced Key" turn off after a few days of vehicle inactivity. In this case, you will need to pull the handle twice the first time. After a longer period of inactivity, it may not be possible to unlock the vehicle using the system for the first time "Advanced Key", - use the remote control.
