Unscrew bolts "1" and "3". Ignore "Pos. 2".
Disconnect wire "A" from the gearbox using the "80 - 200" lever and disconnect connector "C".
Unscrew bolts "3...6" connecting the engine/gearbox. Unscrew the starter bolt "1". Remove the spacer sleeve "2" between the starter and gearbox.
Install the tensioner and hang it using the "T10038" belt on the engine eye, as shown in Fig. Tighten the tensioner belt.
Remove noise insulation screens "1" and "2". Remove noise insulation -1 in the wheel well on the left and right.
Disconnect the exhaust system from the clamping sleeve "arrows". Tie up the front muffler on the side.
Unscrew bolts "1" and "2" and remove the mounting bracket.
Risk of damage to the airbag coil spring. Disconnect the universal joint from the steering gear only when the front wheels are installed straight. Do not change the position of the steering wheel and steering gear any further; if necessary, secure the steering wheel with adhesive tape. Unscrew the bolt "arrow" of the universal joint. Press the universal joint of the steering gear and move it completely upwards.
Unscrew nut "1" of the hydraulic oil pressure line of the power steering. Risk of damage to chassis parts. If the subframe, steering gear or subframe spacer crosspiece are not installed properly, the vehicle must not be placed on the wheels! Using the subframe or subframe spacer crosspiece as a support for the vehicle (for example, when lifting with a jack or similar device) unacceptable! Unscrew the "arrow" bolts and remove the subframe spacer crosspiece.
Disconnect connector "2" of engine speed sensor "G28" and release the electric wire from the fasteners. "Pos. 1" is not taken into account.
If present, unscrew the "arrow" bolts and remove the heat shield of the propeller shaft "A".
Block the propeller shaft from turning using the support "T10172" and adapter "T10172/5". On a car with the propeller shaft inserted from the gearbox side, hold the rear main gear in the same way. Engage 6th gear, for this remove the shift shaft "1" and shift the gearbox lever "2" forward in the "direction of the arrow".
Remove the cover "1" under the gearbox "arrow".
Unscrew the 3 bolts "arrow" of the driven disk, to do this, rotate the clutch module accordingly through 120° in the direction of engine rotation.
The cardan shaft bolted on the gearbox side: Unscrew the bolts connecting the cardan shaft and gearbox, while holding it from turning using the counter support "T10172" with "T10172/5". Move the cardan shaft toward the rear main gear; constant velocity joints are movable in the axial direction. Tie the cardan shaft to the side
The propeller shaft inserted from the gearbox side: Remove the propeller shaft.

Unscrew the "arrow" bolts and remove the heat-insulating shield of the right drive shaft.
Unscrew the left and right drive shafts from the shafts with the gearbox flange.
Disconnect the electrical plug connection "arrow" of the gear detection sensor "F208" using the puller "T40138" and release the electrical wire.
Vehicles with start-stop system: Disconnect the electrical plug connection of the gearbox neutral position sensor -G701 "-1" and release the cable.

Unscrew screw "2" and remove the clutch slave cylinder from the gearbox, removing the tube from the bracket. Tie the slave cylinder to the side of the engine. Risk of damaging the clutch slave cylinder. Do not press the clutch pedal after dismantling the clutch slave cylinder. Unscrew nut "1".
Risk of damage to the gearbox shift shaft. Do not press the gearbox shift lever "1" with a crowbar or knock it down with a hammer. Remove the gearbox shift lever only with the help of the puller "T40160". Install the puller "T40160" and remove the gearbox shift lever "1"
Place an oil extraction device under the disconnection point. Unscrew the bolts "arrows", disconnect the hydraulic line "1" from the steering gear and put it aside. To prevent contamination from entering, close the open lines and fittings with clean plugs from the plug set for the "VAS 6122" engine.
Unscrew bolt "3" of the starter from the engine side. Remove the starter from the gearbox and leave it in the mounting position. There is no need to disconnect the starter cables.
Install the engine and gearbox lift with the gearbox mount "T40173" under the gearbox and secure with tension belt "1", as shown in the figure.
Unscrew the remaining bolts "7...11" of the engine/gearbox connection. Unscrew the bolts "arrows" of the tunnel crossmember. Press the gearbox away from the engine and carefully lower it using a tilter.
In case of replacement of the removed gearbox, it is necessary to reinstall the following parts on the new gearbox. Holder "1" of the fastening strip of the exhaust system.
If necessary, remove the clutch module.
