Gearshift mechanism drive (Audi Q5-8R)

Removal

Turn off the ignition. Remove the gearshift lever handle with the gearshift lever sleeve. Remove the climate control and indicator unit.



Remove the control panel of the multimedia system "E380".



Remove the front ashtray.





Remove the sound insulation above the gear shift drive. Unscrew the "arrow" nuts.



Remove the rear noise insulation screen "2".



Disconnect the exhaust system by loosening the clamp "arrow" and remove the exhaust pipe.



If present, unscrew the "arrow" bolts and remove the heat shield of the propeller shaft "A".





The cardan shaft bolted on the gearbox side: Unscrew the bolts connecting the cardan shaft and gearbox, while holding it from turning using the counter support "T10172" with "T10172/5". Move the cardan shaft toward the rear main gear; constant velocity joints are movable in the axial direction. Tie the cardan shaft to the side.



The cardan shaft inserted from the gearbox side: Remove the cardan shaft. Unscrew the nuts "arrows". Lower the bottom trim from the inside so that the heat shield "1" of the central tunnel can be removed.



Unscrew bolts "1" of the push rod and "3" of the connecting rod. Ignore "Pos. 2".





Unscrew nut "1". Disregard "Pos. 2".



Risk of damage to the gearbox shift shaft. Do not press the gearbox shift lever "1" with a crowbar or knock it down with a hammer. Remove the gearbox shift lever only with the "T40160" puller. Install the "T40160" puller and remove the shift rod -1. Pull the gearshift mechanism downwards.

Installation

Installation in reverse order. Replace the seals and self-locking nuts with new ones. Install the propeller shaft or bolt it to the gearbox. Install the front part of the exhaust manifold. Install the gearshift drive. Install the control panel of the multimedia system "E380". Install the control and display unit of the air conditioning system.
