Label on the front of the camshaft sprocket
Marks on the crankshaft pulley and oil pump housing
The sprockets of the crankshaft, camshaft and intermediate shaft are driven by the timing belt and rotate in phase.
If the sprockets are out of phase, the valves will touch the pistons as the crankshaft rotates.
Top dead center is the highest point reached by piston N1 during the compression stroke.
By aligning the timing marks, you set the N1 piston to TDC and ensure the rotation of the sprockets is in phase.
The mark on the back of the camshaft sprocket aligns with the mark on the inner timing belt cover.
