Removal
Unlock the service cover from the inside. Unlock the hood and pull it forward a little. Remove the hood and place it with the side protected by the cover down. Disconnect the hose "1" from the mount. Remove the engine casing. Remove the fuel supply line "2" (white marking) from a tandem pump. Remove the fuel return line "1" (blue marking) from the fuel line.

Insert a suitable adapter from a hand vacuum pump "V.A.G 1390" into the hose from the return line. Connect the adapter to the hose and the container for bleeding "V.A.G 1390/1". Connect the hand vacuum pump "V.A.G 1390" with a pumping capacity "V.A.G 1390/1" to the fuel drain hose. Press the hand vacuum pump until no more fuel comes out of the drain hose. Make sure that no fuel gets into the hand vacuum pump.

Remove the fuel return line "1" from the tandem pump. Disconnect the vacuum hose "2" from the tandem pump. Unscrew the bolts "arrows". Remove the tandem pump "3" from the cylinder head.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order. In this case, the tandem pump seals must be replaced. All hose connections must be secured with clamps. Ensure that the tandem pump is correctly positioned in the camshaft.

Install the tandem pump and tighten the mounting bolts -upper arrows- to 20 Nm. Tighten the mounting bolts "lower arrows" to 10 Nm. Secure all hoses to the tandem pump.
